Don Quixote was a old man who in a fit of insanity came to believe he was a knight. Crazy depends a lot on one's point of view so YOU need to decide if he was crazy or not

The book is famous because it speaks to that part in all of us that wants to believe and be pure and good.

The story is so compelling and full of such wonderful imagery that many artists were inspired by it.

As for a summary, check sparknotes or you could actually read the book!
