I've been out of the music scene for awhile and I'm looking for any bands, I don't care if they're mainstream "sell-outs" on major record labels or if they're on a tiny shoe-string budget indie label in Buttmunch New Jersey, or even if they're unsigned. If you know any bands, preferably in the hardcore/metal genres, similar to the following bands, please let me know!

Snapcase, Underoath, Killswitch Engage, Shadows Fall, Dillinger Escape Plan, The Tie That Binds, No Use for a Name, Caffiends, Refused, Poison the Well, Coalesce, Converge, Botch, Grade, From Autumn to Ashes, Sikth, Deftones, Relative Ash, 36 Crazy Fists, Tool, Boy Sets Fire, Avenged Sevenfold

Also, I'd really really appreciate anything with positive lyrics (Underoath, Killswitch Engage) and anything that incorporates melody (Boy Sets Fire, Underoath), but anything would be great. Thanks!

A great place to get stuff like this is pandora.com They are working on something called the 'music genome project' and will build you radio stations based on criteria you enter in order to introduce you to new music. You can learn more about it at the site. It's totally free, and it's pretty awesome.

Lol @ the way you used the time period "screamo". definite, really, there's a precise type. you could competently call bands alongside with Pg. ninety 9, Orchid, Saetia, city of Caterpillar, and Funeral Diner screamo, because it really is what they are.
