You should research Festivus. It is rich in tradition originating with the Festivus Pole and followed up by feats of strength. A sure fire A++.

It's kinda late (new here) but Day of the Dead is a holiday that has morphed over the years especially around the time Spaniards entered the picture in central America.

The passover is one of the oldest holiday traditions that I know of. You can also do:
The giving of gifts for christ's birthday (change from gold, frankensince and myrth to the christmas bonanza today)
Halloween (trick or treating v/s all hallows eve)

What about researching the origins of Christmas. Christ wasn't really born on Dec 25th, but it has evloved that way.
Another idea is to research the origins of Halloween. It used to be called, "All Saints Day," but now has evolved to be a spooky day.

How about Diavli, the festival of light, is it the Hindu's? That's a pretty ace thing, that has certainly changed with the westernisation of hindu culture.

Do a search for Pagan holiday rituals. They are all thousands of years old and you ought to be able to find plenty of info.
