Ally = y
Dad = 4y
Ally in six years = y+6
Her dad seven years ago = 4y-7
Dad when ally was half her current age = 4y- (1/2)y
Ally's age later = y + (5y-4y) = y+y = 2y

Allys age when her dad will be five times as old as ally is now = not possible. As Ally grows older, the multiple of her father's age will get smaller and smaller and can never exceed the 4 times it is now.

this last one is a little longer...
Allys age when her dad will be five times as old as ally is now = 5y
1. find how many years it takes dad to get to 5y from where he is now, which is 4y
5y-4y = y
2. add this amount of years to ally's present age, y, to find her new age
y+y = 2y
so ally will be 2y when her dad is 5y

If you have a value for the y, plug it in and that will give you a number, but there is no number given here.

I hated this crap when I was in school...but I did it. With a brain and a pencil. YOU my friend, have computers, better teachers that can't slap you around, ETC...and yet you STILL ask for someone else to do it for you!! I'm telling your mom to take all your toys away, and make you do chores. When you're done with that...DO YOUR HOMEWORK!!! With a pencil and a brain.
