If you never saw a computer, and it was turned off, someone could think it was a new Etch-A-Sketch, but was broken because it wouldn't draw.
If you were an alien, it could look like a complicated torture tool, with wires sticking out everywhere.
Now, if you are alive and aware in 2007, you probably know it is a device that processes and stores data. We can key in additional data. A computer is only a communication device if it is attached to a printer,for the written word, a modem to share or get information and communications, etc.
So.... what's a computer? It's like living in 1900 and asking another person living in 1900 "what's a springhouse?" Everyone in 1900 knew what that was.... so why ask?
