Pantyhose are like underwear- you should only wear them once. Try handwashing them instead of machine washing- that will lower the runs you get in them. Carry clear nail polish or glue in your purse- when you notice a run, dab some on the end of it. That will stop it from going further. Or try the dollar store. I managed to get 5 pairs for a dollar. They don't last long, but its a whole lot less expensive to throw away a pair that cost 20 cents then it is to buy another that costs 9$!

I always hand wash my pantyhose after each wearing. I've found that using this product called "Hosiery Mate" seems to work pretty well. It claims to extend pantyhose life and I think it really does. Also, you don't have to rinse your hose afterward so it makes the handwashing easier. The product is supposed to have something in it that "strengthens fibers."
If you machine wash your pantyhose they won't last as long. It's possible you're using a detergent that might be too harsh for the hose. It's better to use a milder soap than to try to wear soiled pantyhose.
I often wear pantyhose with runs as long as the runs are not visible. Even when wearing a skirt or dress, you can wear runned hose by putting nail polish on the unseen run. You're the only one who will know the hose have run.

Do you have to wear them under your jeans? I mean, you could, but it seems uncomfortable... I guess that would be a good place to get some more use out of them when they have runs.
I always hand wash my pantyhose. They seem to last longer and don't get caught and stretched out in the machine. Also, when I wear them I always keep a bottle of clear nail polish in my purse so if they run while I am at work, I can take care of it right away. If you just dab a little on the end of the run, it stops it from getting longer :)
Well, I hope this was more helpful than confusing!!

I always washed mine after every wearing. I found that unwashed hose ran a lot easier, but if you find it the opposite then go ahead and wear them a few times. There's really no "rule" on it. As long as the runs don't show, I don't see why you couldn't wear them under jeans. When I worked in a job where I stood all day, I wore hose under my work pants. My legs didn't get nearly as tired.

I wash mine after every two or three uses, it depends if you wear panties or not. I wear tights pretty much all the time so save up a bundle and wash them at the same time. I always wear tights under jeans with or without runs as jeans are just so scratchy without. Also you could wear a coupe of pairs under your jeans for extra warmth and comfort. It's funny how some women don't like tights at all but to me they are just so cosy.

my wife washes them as quickly as possible...but you have to really be careful putting them on and off she has snagged them on many things. Sometimes buying a little cheaper pair might not work since they might be a cheaper made hose so its something to experiment with. The other thought is hold ups or stockings with a garter thus one runs you just toss the bad one and might work as well for you.

Hosiery and intimate apparel should be washed by hand with delicates wash or a mild soap and line dried. This will prolong the elasticity of the fabrics. Proper care extends the lifetime of the garment.

You donot need to wash your pantyhose after each wearing unless you are some kind of nasty pig that does not practice good hygene. I was my pantyhose only when necessary since I am very clean with myself, unlike some of the nasty people that have posted on here.
