I said all along that he would end up in the American league. He is a has been. He is way too slow for the current Premiership & simply not good enough.

At Madrid he was one of many stars, but he was not the biggest star on the pitch. However, in America he will stand out as being the best footballer which is what he wants.

What an idiot taking the easy way out.

Here it is from an American prospective:

When I read the news that David Beckham signed with the MLS LA Galaxy for 5 years /$250 million, I had to stop and reread the entire article. I had to read it slowly and deliberately in order to digest every single word. Are you kidding me? Who knew that this deal makes Alex Rodriguez's original deal with the Texas Rangers seem like a bargain?

I sure hope the proprietors of the Galaxy know what they are doing and how they are going to cover his paychecks. They do know they own a soccer team in the US don't they? LOL I guess on a scale of 1 to 10, this move is a 25 on boldness.

My best guess is that they are banking on Beckham's marketing appeal to generate great interest in soccer here in the US. They are hoping that Beckham can do for the MLS what Pele did in the 70's for the old North American Soccer League (NASL). For that kind of money, he better be far and away the leagues best player and be able to fill up stadiums across the country. If not, somebody is left holding the bag on $50 million/year for that contract.

My question now is this: Did Beckham's management have incriminating photos to use as blackmail to get that sort of contract? LOL

Being in LA he'll probably gets more exposure to the Hollywood side of things, so combining that and football, he'll probably be a good marketing tool.

But I don't completely agree if 125m is worth his marketing value, a lot of football fans have lost interest in Beckham. There won't be too many football fans that will watch major league soccer because of Becks. But it will definitely grab the attention of the Entertainment Industry target market into USA Major League Soccer.

Respect to the main with the mane.

Mclaren is a ginger tosser and should have never dropped him.

I like Beckham. He's a great role model for kids - He's made mistakes lik us all but he's a hard worker and the man has style.

Lest we not forget he's got probably the best football kicking right foot in the world!

David Beckham is a one of a kind football player. There are important games which have been won thanks to his free kicks and there are more yet to come. He is 32yrs old but he still has loads left in him. As a football player, he is a genius but as a marketing product, he is slightly overrated. There are girls who go crazy after seeing him and there are boys who will buy shoes/sport goods just seeing him.

David Beckham is just a sportsman. Nobody needs to see his face everytime they buy a phone, or leave their house. It's just crazy. Oh and he gets paid too much. Aside from ads, all he does is play football. I did that for free at school. And I was probably better at it than he is. Remember that penalty, when he kicked it into the sky?

What a piece of work! He frickin sucks...this is a "demotion"..hahaha..and the amount he rec is insane!...that's about 5 x's the amount (if not more) that other MLS players rec!

I can only assume that MLS is banking on Beck's drawing HUGE crowds to soccer....which has never really taken in the US...while it's certainly gaining in popularity....it will never beat baseball and football.

I don't see that happening.....NOT worth the money IMO.

he`s both good for sales but a bit over-rated as a footballer a great crosser and passer scores 1 in 10-15 free kicks other than that not too great
