Whether you like it or not, until you turn 18, you are her responsiblity. That means she can tell you when your curfew is, or what you wear, and etc... I don't know about the owning part, I don't agree with that. Parents don't own you and why would someone look at it like that? Your parents are the ones that is suppose to keep you safe. That is why they set boundaries. If they didn't care they would let you do whatever you wanted and you and I both know what teenagers are capable of. When my mom gave me a inch, I took a mile. Even if you don't go wild, there is still alot of harm out there. People killing, raping, and etc... She doesn't want to get a call one night and find out that her daughter was found lying in a ditch somewhere and that she had been raped and tortured. There are sick people out there that do that. What I am saying here is that your mom loves you and she wants you to be safe and out live her. No parent wants to bury their children. So please be respectful of her and understand why she tells you no.

No one owns anyone no matter what, even if they are a slave. They only think they own someone.
Your parents are responsible for you until you are 18, but then if you want to leave, you can!

Well it's true. Your parents are your legal guardians until you legally become an adult at age 18, therefor they own you. If you live with them, and they are providing for you, then that gives them more right to own you. Save your money so you can move out when you're 18...that's what I did.

Not in the sense of property, but legally your parents are responsible for you and your actions. Which means they can be held accountable for your mistakes. Why don't you cut your mom a break? Young adulthood is over really fast, then you can go nuts!

Your mom is very protective of you. Well, you can voice your concerns to your mom regarding the way she treats you.
No parent can say that they own their children. Children are parent's responsibilities; not a material or possession.

She has responsibilities to you... She has to feed you, clothe you, and set rules for your behaviour... Once you leave the home, then you are able to do that by yourself... But until then, all parents have trouble letting go and conflict occurs because they are scared for your safety and don't want anything to go wrong...

i dont think that whole 18 thing is true.. you own urself.. for example ur parents cant really prevent u from anything cuz u can just do it behind their back... if they really "owned" u then u wouldnt be able to do that

I agree that no one owns you but if you live with your Mother, she does have a "say-so" in your life until you leave her house.
