I'd imagine they dream about similar things that people do. Chasing, being chased, sex, playing games, having conversations(per se), eating, car rides, the family or pack, eating things it shouldn't, eating things it already has.
A dog has fears just like people do, I don't think they really have like, hopes a dreams, like people do. But maybe goals. Like getting that peanut butter out of that hollow bone, or digging as many holes in the yard as possible. Marking as much of it's territory as possible in a single day. So why wouldn't they dream about the things that go on during the day, just like people do?
I'd love to get inside the head of ANY animal when it sleeps, to see if it dreams, and what it dreams of! I think it would be more interesting then human dreams! lol

I can tell the difference in my dog between when he is having a good dream or a bad bream. I think the good ones, he's chasing that deer he sees every morning. I think the bad ones, the garbage truck got too close. Who knows? He could just be dreaming about his food. I have way too much time on my hands.

My dog wags her tail grawls like shes playing, all in her sleep so I think they dream that they are playing and or running. I get a kick out of watching my dog when shes dreaming it's funny as heck.

when they do that usually they are dreaming about running and that is why their paws twitch. It's kinda funny to watch. When my dog does that, I leave her alone unless I hear her whinning then I will wake her up.

Dogs dream about things that matter to them- food, security, fun, their owners, other dogs. It isn't that much different from people, though our dreams are probably more complex and can be in color. Dogs are colorblind so they can't dream in color. I am sure they can feel excited, scared, happy, hungry and all the other things dogs feel when they are awake.

To watch mine sleep, I'd guess he's running, eating, playing with other dogs.
