Come on. You know smoking is bad for you by now. You've seen enough pictures to know what the healthy lung and the smoker's lung look like. Further more you know smoking while pregnant causes birth defects.

So you already know what all the answers are gonna say and that doesnt even have anything to do with blood clots. But while you brought up blood clots, actually smoking does restrict blood flow. The blood has problems circulating and oxygen isn't getting into your skin as well as it was if you didn't smoke. If you already have blood clots (meaning the blood flow is restricted) and the blood flow is restricted even more, it increases your chances of having futher blood clots at least by 50%. When blood flows, outter extremities like hands and feet have less blood flow than normal. Thats why people with poor blood circulation have such cold hands. So in general you have less blood at your ankle than your groin. Now you--who already hasclots--are further shrinking the arteries and capilaries carrying the blood down there.

Hope this one was more informative than just the generic No.

Smoking probably set the dvt off in the first place. Pregnant as well then you should give up all smoking and all alcohol. Do this for ever and you will live to a happy age. Carry on and you will die young and in pain.

Smoking is the big no-no. It hardens your blood vessels and therefore makes it more likely that blood clots such as yours will block them.

I'm not aware of any specific problem with drinking in moderation with your condition (unless it doesn't mix with warfarin, heparin or whatever you're on), but check with your health professional in case.

Re the pregnancy - NOBODY should smoke when pregnant, especially someone with DVT too. It restricts blood flow to the baby and will affect his or her development.

According to the US Gov't = NO. But = has anyone ever known a single gov't official anywhere in this world that does not lie consistently. He-ll, in the USA it is even OK for the President to lie under oath undermining our entire system of government. So check out the statistics and figures they use to "ban" and "brand" smoking as "the evil Killer". The figures do not add up and most all of the deaths attributed to smoking are really old people. So what- old people die and if they enjoyed smoking, that is an individual right. You will be "branded" if anyone sees you smoke = consider that "danger" before you do. They will actually beat you up and try to take your children in their overzealous fight to undermine your rights just because they can't stand themselves.

You're joking, right?

Smoking is a killer, period. It doesn't matter what other problems or conditions you have or don't have - smoking will kill you and those around you.

And driking during a pregnanacy is a major NO-NO.

If I had any idea who you were and where you were, I'd call social services because, if you're the least bit serious here, you are endangering your baby as well as yourself.

It's not ok for anyone to continue smoking - its a killer.
As for drink, well a glass of wine a day is supposed to be very healthy.

The occasional drink should be OK, but smoking is just stupid.
Just give up and start living again!

It is not only you anymore, do doing this to your baby too.
