Have you ever heard of Vietnam?

The Brits broke the Enigma code, but the Yanks did capture the cypher.
The US fought to a stalemate in Korea, and lost in Vietnam and Laos.

Iraq isn't going too good either, kind of looks like Vietnam with more body armor and less combatants.

First of all, I love all u guys in America, I have web friends there and would never insult them. Now does anyone remember a TV doc on UK TV about 3 or 4 months ago, an american high ranking officer openly admitted on tv that america had the military might ref to manpower and equipment and during past wars he said that american soldiers etc had so much eqipment at their disposal, if it broke they just dumped it and got another, he then laughed and said that the brits always picked up the dumped weapons etc.
He also confirmed that the brits were better at winning wars, and have the experience to stop a war from starting. he also admitted that in places like iraq, and afganastan etcthat where the british soldier would go in with soft hats worn, rifle or machine gun on shoulder instead of ready to shoot, our guys wore no glasses or clear ones, they learned as much of the language so theycould comunicate with the people, they took sweets for the kids, fags for the adults, toys, games and footballs and won these peoples hearts.he said americanso, ldiers are dressed up like a fut ure soldier with over the top clothing and metal helmets, armed to the teeth with guns in ready mode, very dark glasses worn so u dont know who they are looking at, and their aggressive nature and ways they speak to the people, they shout GET TO HELL OUT OF THE WAY OR I WILL SHOOT, no playing with kids or mingling in with the people like the brits do. All this was the words fom a very high ranking american officer.
I write this with no disrespect meant to our buddies in America. I am only quoting what an american high ranking officer said on tv in uk.

Couple of points.

Saying that America captured the enigma machine is true, omitting that they did so two years after HMS Bulldog did is careless.

Also, We win every MAJOR war? 2.7million Americans served in Vietnam, that's far from trifling.

Was Korea a victory?

It is exactly the point you made that puts America in dire straights. The populace actually believes that stuff. So the government gets away with doing things internationally that are irrational and the populace goes along with it. Americans as a group have no idea of what the rest of the world is about; they are the most ill-informed populace on international affairs of all of the western world. So they end up with the governments they get (deserve). People who govern take advantage of the international ignorance of the citizens.

Correction, the enigma machine was found by the British... We've even got it a museum!

Oops, just pointing out... I think they take a lot of other nations stories and Americanise them cos they don't sell otherwise.(Bit shallow really). I think it's something to with propaganda. Which they learnt from the most notorious propaganda machine the, "Nazis'". Ronald Regan and Arnold.

The land invasion "shock and awe" in Iraqi was the actual strategy invented by the "Nazis'" which was called "Blitzkrieg" literally lightning war.

Gotta make you wonder were there going with all this copy cat stuff? Huh!

Sorry mate, you need to stop watching so much yank TV, its not true, the yanks have an overrated opinion of themselves, still i guess in some ways its better than knocking yourself all the time, like we do !!
The only thing I've found they have not claimed praise for is the Battle of Britain, they were still scratching their @rse's then.
But don't mention Vietnam, Somalia, (black hawk down) or as it stands at the moment Iraq !!!

The US didn't crack the Enigma codes, the Brits did.
The US doesn't win every war. We lost in Vietnam, and Korea was a draw.
The US won her other wars because we fight to win.

It's called Hollywood, it's fiction. Everyone knows it was the British who cracked the Enigma code. I will say it is doubtful that the British could have beat the Nazi's without our help.

It took a little over 100 years for American text books to admit that we struck first blood in the Mexican/American war.. but we aren't alone.. all nations skew history to their favor.

also.. we win every MAJOR confrontation we get into.. it's what our army is made for.. we however don't do very well in the smaller versions of warfare.. we just aren't made for that.
