It was running fine - only had it since August, all fluids topped up regularly. One day in the Walmart parking lot, when I started it, the whole vehicle rumbled!!! The check engine light started flighing... I'm looking for advice here -- I drove it to Canadian Tire [it was the closest mechanic and I was worried about damaging the engine!] -
THEY - said it was a midfire on cylinder 3. They did a full tune up [original spark plugs], did the fuel filter, and oil change, reset the codes and said it was fixed. 4 kms later -- the check engine light flashing and now it is a multiple cylinder misfire [instead of the cylinder 3 random misfire] -- any ideas? It is driving ok, the check engine light flashes once in a while, especially when I go over 40Kms. They did clear the code and put in fuel injector cleaner, and told me to drive it for a few miles and see what happens. Should I find a new mechanic [does thie sound right?], and any ideas what could cause it? Chevy Blazer 2003 4X4 thanks :(

I have a 2000 Blazer and had a similar problem recently. When my check engine light would activate, the oil gauge would drop to zero. Turns out that I was low on oil. After I added the appropriate ammount of oil, the problem went away.
In your case, since they did an oil change already, the problem seems to be different. Normally, misfires are caused by a timing issue. You may need to have the engine timed. The only other possibility I can think of is that the fuel injectors may be clogged and need to be cleaned.
Good luck!

hi,,i mechanic for a living,,and own a shop,i think they might have told you right with what they said,,and as we all know the blazer is an American vehicle,,id drive it a little and see if this improved it,,its just kind of odd it done it all the sudden like this ,,usually they,ll start doing this slowly and then get bad,,id give it a day or two ,and if it don't clear up,,id find another mechanic, its very possible that's all that's wrong with it,and what they did cant hurt it none,,but if in a day or two its not doing better ,have it checked out by another mechanic ,,it may have a few bad injectors in it,,causing it to do this,,good luck with it,,i hope this help,s.

You don't mention the mileage so it's hard to say. If you continuously use 87 octane, or do a lot of city driving, then that will also contribute to fouling plugs. The wrong plugs, piston rings worn, etc etc. Really need to know the mileage and more details. Some gasoline stations are notorious for water in their gas so you may try another filling station. You mention "Canadian Tire" so I assume you are up there in the "COLD" country which also has it's effects on performance.

Ignition coil(s) going bad will cause multiple misfires. Check it out.
