The first time I was put to sleep was when I also had a tubal. I was scared to death. They gave me something through my IV to relax me, it felt so good I didn't want to go to sleep! Everything was fine, I've had to be put to sleep since then and don't have a problem with it at all.
Good luck to you!

They put me on gas when I get both of my wisdom teethe removed. Two different surgeries. It is really nothing. They place the gas mask on you and then you start to get highly drowsy. Then eventually, lights out. The next thing I remember was waking up. It was like it took a total of 30 seconds. I didn't feel anything. And was incredibly light headed when I woke up. I had to be driven home because of the gas still in my system. The only pain that should occur is post surgery pain. That is why the hospital will issue pain pills after surgery. If you feel the pain, is because the doctor did not give you enough sedatives. Ask for the gas if they give you an option. You won't feel a thing. Take care and good luck on your surgery!

I work in the operating room so i can honestly tell you that as long as you have a good doctor that you trust you will be okay. you wont feel a thing. you most likely wont remember anything either. you will wake up and be tired and groggy from the anesthesia and a maybe a little sore but thats about it. if you are having doubts maybe you should do some background on the doctor or maybe call or go to see the doctor that is doing your surgery. he will sit down with you and discuss your concerns and let you know what to expect. good luck

Nothing to be scared of. If they put you under using a general anesthetic, you'll drift off to sleep and wake up in recovery. If they only put you in a sort of twilight sleep for the procedure, you will be sedated using meds that affect your short term memory such that you won't remember any of it anyway.
If been put under both ways during my life and, once I was under, that is the last thing I remembered until I woke up in recovery. I never felt anything the doctors were doing.

I had my wisdom teeth removed and I received laughing gas prior to the procedure and then general anesthesia. I recommend that you talk with your anesthesiologist & doctor about any questions or concerns. Once you are put under you shouldn't feel anything but I did have a hard time waking up afterwards.

I assume you are undergoing a laparoscopy with general anesthesia and not just twilight? General anethesia is very safe for the most part, but it's important to have the pre-op coversation with your anesthesiologist to go over your health details, address any questions or concerns you may have and for them to go over the procedure details with you. In some cases, people have experienced nausea and/or vomiting after general anesthesia, headaches, throat pain from the tube, and other side effects. They are common and not necessarily cause for concern, but do keep your doctor appraised of such side effects. There is a good manual located here http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/erc [go to files > lap manual; you must register to access it but it's free and quick] which can help you understand the procedure and give you some tips for healing and coping afterwards. Good luck.

I've been "put under" about 4 times. Its no big deal. They wil start an IV, probley flush it and give you somthing to calm you, then about 5 min before they take you back they give you the anathesia, they told me to count backwards from 10 and I was out before 5. The next thing I knew I was waking up in recovery. Piece of cake. Don't worry, you'll be fine!

I was put to sleep for a nose surgery, once the anesthesiologist did his act, my doctor asked me to count to ten.... I began counting and he was there whispering "calm down, sleep"... the next thing I remember is when he, touching my arm said... "We're done, everything was perfect!!" and I felt asleep again.... You don't feel a thing, don't worry, it's even fun!

It all depends how far they put you under. I had my tonsils removed when i was 18, they gave me a needle, and the next thing you know I'm waking up in the recovery room.
I also had my wisdom teeth removed, but they didnt put me all the way under, its what they call twilight. I remember them ripping my teeth out, but couldnt feel a thing. I thought I was dreaming.

i was just put to sllep ye sturday for a D&C and when i woke up i didn't even know I had been put to sleep yet and you just feel a bit drowsy when you wake up, but some people are different it depends on how your body reacts with the anesthetic, i know of some people who are sick with vomitting afterwards you don't truly know until you get it done once.Good luck
