Endometriosis. My mother had it and they go inside and clean it out with a laser. They do it when it starts to build up again.

Excessive uterine bleeding is called menorrhagia. If you bleed for long periods (i.e. weeks), it is termed hypermenorrhea. Menorrhagia has many causes one of which is hormonal imbalance. If this is the case, taking some contraceptives would regularize the bleeding episodes. If it is a structural problem, doctors may do a D & C (dilatation and curettage) to remove uterine epithilium and let the uterus grow back normal tissue. Sometimes, an IUS (intrauterine system) containing progesterone may be inserted to stop the excessive bleeding. Whatever it is, follow your gynecologist's advice.

Endometriosis. It causes the inside of your uterus to slough off along with the blood from your period.
