Yes, I think they're defending them by trying to keep them alive. Do you think Bush is defending them by killing them?????

If only this can be blamed on those wacky liberals. There are all those wacky conservatives too that want the war in Iraq to end, from the James Baker to some of the architects of the initial invasion of Iraq to the generals on the ground to most American citizens at this point. If most people consider Bush a failure at this point aside from a few die hard zealots, maybe it's just because he's you know, a complete and utter failue.

While liberals do play the compassion card, and I know that gets on soldiers nerves, it's completely unnecessary for the argument to be made. The US military ultimately works for the American people through the representatives that we've sent to Washington. If the American people ultimately don't want the war, then the war will be over. Human lives aside, the military is a resource that belongs to the American People to use wisely. Everyone except for a few neocons believe that military resources are being used in the least wise manner possible, thus we are doing everything in our power to defend our resources. It's that simple, most people think Bush is failure and are trying to preserve the troops from his incompetence. Members of the military have the same say in the manner of their destiny as anyone else (unless of course they personally have the presidents ear)

To the best of their ability to do so, mostly.

The democratic perspective is clearly that the troops are in harm's way with no productive reason. In that case, the only reasonable course is to get them out of harm's way.

But the democrats do, in fact, want to defeat Bush. Bush is a failure on many levels and most Americans - including the democrats - have come to realize this.

In this, too, I think the democrats believe they are defending the troops. To have our troops led by a man who will callously send them to their deaths for his own personal agenda which is not related to the defense of our nation is a betrayal of their dedication and loyalty on a monumental scale. So the only reasonable course of action is to reign in the madness.

There is a compelling argument that they are not doing enough in this regard, but there is still the possibility that they will correct that.

no I am a combat vet and the liberal media and politicians are not supportive of us foreign policy or the troops who die every day to defend our counties freedom and the freedom of the whole world. the media is controlled by the liberal sector, and does not do an adequate job of showing the actual facts of the matter. case in point, try doing some research on Somalia 1993. I think you will find the liberal thinkers of the time left our troops out to dry.

I think liberals for most part want to deny 9/11 happened. They fail to see the correlation or connection to terrorism and the regimes such as Iraq under Hussein or Kim Il Jong.
Facts when pressed in the face of libs only make them cry more.

I don't think libs give one iota about the safety of our troops, most have distain for them. They see the military and any efforts for self defense as a threat. That is from the right to keep and bear arms to waging a war sanctioned by the UN (Resolution 1443) to take Hussein from Power.. Hussein was a threat, he was taken out.

The fact is this iraq is but a small battle in a larger conflagration. Denial about what the threat is fails to deal with it. Radical Islam is spreading across all areas of the planet. It is an ideology much like Nazism was in the 1930s. We are in 1938 and Hitler is rolling into the Sudatenland. We have a choice appease radical Islam and let it gain control of the middle east or fight it before it gains strength. The cost of the first is politically expedient. We deny it,sticking our heads in the sand and hoping it goes away or we address it before it sweeps the entire region and moves in to Europe as it did in the 800-1300 AD timeframe..

FDR could have decided Hitler wasn't OUR problem after December 7th, 1941 but he knew that threat had to be addressed as well.

Stick your head in the sand, put your women in Burkhas and begin beating them.

Bush for all his faults is at least doing something about it. In my view not nearly enough. We need to quit dancing the political games and get serious about putting and end to the radicalism that is growing in the middle east. If we don't our kids will pay for it.

here is an article for you simpletons to read, It is fiction but is shows what will happen if we deny the truth..

Liberals are threatening to cut off funding to the troops and refusing to send reinforcements to help them. They are more interested in defeating Bush than defending the country.

If the Liberals want a withdrawal of troops from Iraq then technically they are defending them, as they will be out of danger from being killed in a war they shouldn't be fighting.

And in rebuttal to Slim Whitman's answer, Saddam Hussein was a nasty guy, but he was no threat to the West. Let me remind you there were no WMDs. Some people seem to forget how long he was in our pocket while we used the Middle East as a cold war playground.

Radical Islam is spreading across the middle east - especially in Iraq since the war. But Saddam was essentially a SECULAR dictator. He kept terrorism and dissent under tight control to protect his petty empire. Women in Iraq didnt wear Burkhas until three years ago. So now what do we have? Radical tribal Islamic feuding, civil war and growing hatred of the West. Some tribal leaders are even now aligning themselves with Iran, so thats a whole bunch of fun to come.

Every civilian we accidentally kill has a family. These families aren’t grateful for their 'liberation' and will forever be enemies of the West.

You want to fight "radical Islam"? It won't work with guns or rockets: its like a worm - chop it in half and the two ends wriggle away. Theres no one figurehead, no central control. Its fractured, splintered and regional. Its not like fighting Hitler, but like 10,000 little Hitlers and unlike German soldiers in the war, radical Islamics aren’t 'obeying orders' - they believe what they're doing is ordained by God. How exactly do you fight that?

Bush is already a loser. If you are not a loser, too, than why do you support his loser a**?

Liberals will save this country from losers like Bush.

You're silly to blame the Liberals for the mess Bush and the Republicans have created.

And you are being dishonest to yourself, down deep.

Our troops don't WANT to be defended. They are adults. They joined so that THEY could do the defending. Why do Liberals insist on treating them like children?

I think they are making sure they get re-elected. Most americans don't want addl. troops in Iraq.

Bush doesn't need help. He is already failing. And that isn't a hate message. Heck, I voted for him.
