my montecarlo has a bore out 30 over 350 to make a 355, with header, vortec heads, ligh cam, and a rebuild 2004r tranny with stallconverter and shift kit. my friends charger is stock with 20'' wheels, but he has a computer programmer AKA a chip. my question is if we were to race who would probly win, in the 1/4mile and in top end?

He'd probably win. But who cares. Race and find out.

I would place my money on the charger. Stock Charger R/T usually runs the 1/4 mile in about 14.0 to 14.2 sec @ 99mph to 100mph. Even with a chip (most likely the "Superchip") he would get the 1/4 down 0.1 or 0.2 seconds at the very most.

However, with the 20 inch wheels may slow down his 1/4 mile a little depending on the weight of the wheels

Normally the stock Charger R/T's or Daytona's come with 18" inch rims. Only the SRT8 versions come stock with 20's.

What's your cam, stall, and rear end ratio? Charger's are pretty slow, the hemi's don't run but a mid 14 sec 1/4 mile, I wouldn't think it'd be too hard to beat with a good 355.

We raced one with our GMC S-15 with basically stock 350 with Holley 650 and trick flow heads and walked away from the hemi. Raced it three times with different drivers and got the same result every time. I thought the hemi would be faster than that. Certainly no comparison to the old ones.

Who is the better driver?

There is really no way to answer that. Your car probably makes 300 horsepower, but your car weighs @3500 lbs.
His car probably makes @380 hp and weighs 4100 lbs.
Depending how well you car is setup, I would think that it would come down to a drivers race.

His car is governed to a 130 topend so if your gearing is correct you should take him in the topend.
