Unfortunately there is no single "path" to becoming a singer, there are however things you can do to increase your odds.
Many towns/states have local competitions/contests, enter as many as you can (you should look in the newspaper for announcements, also town bulletin boards). This will help you be seen by the people who hire singers but will also give you an idea of where you stand in relation to other singers.
Another way is to join plays/musicals, either at school or your town may have a group. This would be great practice, will help you create contacts, and may help you be discovered.

well usually you need to have talent...you can start there
its not that simple...if there was a 3 step program, everyone would do it
