Chavez is Good. He can't be bad because he criticizes American President and other European leaders.

I endorse what Chavez is doing 100%. Under the old system just for an example millions of the poor had no health care. He cut a deal with Cuba, whereby Cuba would send 15,000 doctors to Venezuala in exchange for oil. The Doctors in his country protested wanting the people to take out Private insurance policies. These ppl couldn't afford food let alone insurance.
Also for the poor in major US cities where "Citco" service stations operate, he has been making heating oil available to the poor at 40% less than market price. So he has no use for Bush and his bloodsucking type, big deal. Petrol in Venezuala is about 40 cents (US) a gallon. Reforms are coming slowly, but they are coming. I'm Canadian, and I'm sorry to hear what is happening in the EU.

I don't think we did discover that socialism didn't work in the 50s. There are many countries in which socialism works quite well, thank you. China has the fastest growing economy in the world. Kerela State, in India, is producing many more college-educated students than other Indian states. And the Kerala State government is communist. Sweden has one of the highest standards of living in the world and it pretty much has "cradle to grave" welfare systems.
You might also read "Confessions of an Economic Hit Man" by John Perkins to find out exactly what privatisation has done to several so-called "failed states."

I'm all for socialism, but Chavez doesn't go about things the right way... he is too inflammatory, and he kinda seems like he is just doing this whole thing to give himself more power in Venezuela, hes like the ying to Bush's yang...

Well, everybody knows that nationalizing things always makes them more efficient, saves money, and improves services.
That's why when Margaret Thatcher privatized coal mining, hundreds of thousands of miners were laid off, the cost went down, and they stopped having brown outs.

I'm afraid we discovered back in the fifties that socialism doesn't actually work. Unless companies are competing against each other for your dollar they have no reason to innovate, be efficient or offer consumers a good deal.
It's a guaranteed way to impoverish a country.
