Doctors will say that a baby usually triples their birth weight by their first birthday. Remember that your baby was small at birth so he/she will be smaller than kids her age who were born heavier. My first daughter was 4lbs. 11 oz at birth and weighed 17 lbs on her first birthday. She was wearing 6-9 month clothing and everyone who saw this very tiny child walking around commented on how cute she was. Don't worry, just enjoy your child.

I don't know the normal weight for a baby because my son is above average, he's 7 months old and weighs 25lbs. He weighed 9lbs 10oz at birth, so he was never the average weight.
I added a site that you can go to and see what percentile your baby is in for their growth.

my baby is 9 months old also, she is roughley about 22-25lbs and in 18month clothing. she has a cousin that was 5lbs at birth (she was 8lbs) and now 4 months later her cousin is about 10lbs and my baby (Tylen Marie) was 10lbs at 1 month. i used to be worried but she has no health problems and is very happy and advanced for her age (she is all over the place :-). Be happy you have a healthy full baby. keep feeding him, loving him and taking good care of him or her. as long as they are not obese(like the kids on Maury ) its just baby fat they will grow out of it.

I just had to answer this question. My baby boy is 6 months old today and he weighs 21 lbs 8 oz. He is also super long though. You have NOTHING to worry about, lol. They usually walk it off when they start anyway.

was your baby a premeature birth????
my two neices are 9 months now and they only weigh 12 and 13 lbs. have you asked your doctor or tryed to change his formula??? he could have a weight gain problem, but then again it could be normal. my baby boy weighed 21 lbs at 9 months. i think your baby's weight is ok.

My neighbor was 16 pounds when she was born and a few oz's. Some people just have big babies, she didn't grow up heavy or anything, she was normal. Just a big baby
