i want to live on a farm and raise a large family when i get older, but my parents think i'm gonna marry a red neck. my mom doesn't really like them because she says they all treat their wives like dirt. i disagree, i think there are some caring red necks out there, and even still i want to marry a farmer, not a red neck.

this is an odd dream. most people just fall in love with whoever-but whatever-you know what you want, so thats good.
nonetheless, I would say there are some definite differences, lets not try to bunch all farmers into one category. go for one with more education, and some city experience. Most of, respect for you should be exhibited in your future husband. follow your heart?

you can be a farmer and a red neck but not all red necks are farmers - seems to be a big evil undercurrent about red necks here - down south a red neck is simply a good ol boy who drives a pick up truck and gets a sunburned neck because of the back window

I don't know about the treating wives like dirt thing, in my opinion a myriad of men treat their wives like dirt so you can't really typify rednecks and/or farmers for that. I was born and raised in the South and I know for a fact that rednecks ARE THE evil undercurrant.

Not all farmers treat their wives like dirt. However, the one I was married to beat the crap out of me and isolated me and I left the first day he left the farm to go get seed or feed or something and never came back.
