I really want to plan something special for him - and would love any ideas people have for me. Do I have a party? Do I plan something intimate for the two of us? Do I suprise him? Any input would be greatly appreciated!! I have lots of time to plan - his birthday is months away.

Have a big party with family and friends, and go out of your way to locate people he hasn't seen in years. Do a 'This is Your Life' segment at the party and have these people talk about their memories about your husband before they reveal who they are to the group. Pull out the all the stops. After the party, take him away on a special trip someplace special just the two of you and make sure it is a memorable trip as you make special memories of your own. I'm only 36, but when I turn 50 I think that would be an awesome thing to receive from my wife.

Figure out his favorite activity or think about something he really like to try or do. You can go as crazy as booking a nascar weekend, he gets to drive stock cars on an actual track. Or maybe an exotic vacation, even if it's just a 3-4 day trip. Or a golfing excursion with a spa retreat.
Then again if he hasn't had a party in a long time, through him a big shindig as a surprise. Invite family, friends and coworkers. Throw in some entertainment like belly dancers for fun....lol

Give him a big over the hill, 50 BLAST! Plus, note on the invitations, "Gag gifts only"......play music spanning the last 50 years, decorate the house like it might look 50 years ago, have all the guests dress like he dressed in High school...boy oh boy, you can go all out with great ideas for this!

Yea I would take him somewere special that he really would want to go because in a womans situation they would want jewlery.
