I would rather work 8am - 4:30 (I currently work 8-5). I like it better because I get home sooner and have time to cook dinner. Working later in the evening just makes the day seem so long and I don't like eating late. I like to be able to curl up with my husband after dinner.

I agree with Shannon L -- I like getting home early and spending time with family. But it's all going to come down to you and your likes/dislikes.

I think the 11-8 schedule is probably well suited for a college student or a single person because it leave time to go out at night and sleep in a little the next day.

8AM- 430PM

Pros:

You can get an early start and be off of work before 5PM

If you have kids, you'll be back home before they get off the school bus

Cons:

You have to wake up extremely early and contend with other early-morning rush hour traffic.

There isnt very much time to look for a babysitter if your kids are home from work.

If you need in-home repairs, they are mostly done between those hours, and you wont be home with the repairman, you'd have to take the day off.

11AM- 8pm

Pros:

Its a later start, but you can stay up later at night if you party or whatever.

Theres plenty of time to make arrangements for childcare and other prospects.

Cons:
You wont get off until 8PM, it;ll be dark outsite.

It'll be like spending the whole entire day at work.

The best thing to do is to see if you can get a combination of both of the scheduels, it'll add alot of variety to your work-scheduel.

good luck =]

All depends on your internal clock and your pastimes of choice. Since I like to get up early, the 8-430 shift would be better (currently its 6-2:30 flextime). When I was in my 20's the 11-8 shift would have been ideal. Whatever makes you happiest!
