Check out Wikipedia for Earth, Asteroids and Comets. Check out properties and orbital parameters of each.
In the first paragraph, describe briefly what each thing is: Earth, asteroid, comet. Why three separate words? What makes them different?
In the second paragraph, describe the regular orbit of Earth around the Sun. Then the vast array of orbits of asteroids, noting that a large number are on orbits that are not that weird. Finally, orbits of comets (any direction, any inclination). You are also trying to show the teacher that you understand the words you are using (so, look them up in Wiki: orbital period, eccentricity, inclination, sungrazing comet...)
In the third paragraph, compare the structure of Earth (differentiated levels, spherical shape cause by gravity) with that of asteroids (no differentiation, rocky or metallic, odd shapes) and of comets (body of "dirty ice", coma of evaporated ice, tail of dust and tail of ionized vapors)
PS: keep it at the level of where you are at school. The topic is interesting at any level. If you were at college level, I'd propose that you describe how certain groups of asteroids come from comets that have broken up. However, at junior high, I'd be happy if you learned words like eccentricity, inclination, prograde, retrograde, sublimation.

Paragraph 1
Comets are big balls of rock and ice, asteroids are rocks. Both fly through space and occasionally hit things. Comets are cool because you can see them, like halley's comet, and it only comes around every so often. Asteroids probably wiped out the dinosaurs.
Paragraph 2
Asteroids usually just float around in space, occasionally getting caugh in a variety of gravitational fields, but comets are usually travelling fast enough to escape the smaller fields, and so they will develop orbits that can be tracked. Sort of like how earth orbits the sun.
Paragraph 3
Comets and asteroids are interesting, because they might contain elements that can't be found on earth, or might give us clues as to the existance of life on other planets since they are flying around out there and stuff.

Now, look up all that stuff and write it yourself.
