B. This commnences through Greenwich London and rotates the earth north and south through the poles. Usually the lines of longitude are spaced every 15 degrees as this is how far the overhead sun appears to rotate in one hour and how the old sailing ships knew their distance E & W and speed by comparing the time of the overhead sun at a location, to their overhead sun starting time.

The other answers are points of latitude. The earth's axis is inclined at 23 1/2 degrees to the sun. As the earth circles the sun in a (approx) year, the sun appears overhead at different latitudes because of this inclination. On Sept 21st and March 21st it is overhead at the equator. On Dec 21st at Tropic of Capricorn and on June 21st at Tropic of Cancer, which are subsequently both 23 1/2 degrees south and north of the equator. This causes the seasons, because of the change in strength of the overhead sun.
The old sailing ships knew their distance N&S by measuring (with a sextant)their deviance from the known fixed angle of latitude of a star at their starting point.
