Interesting and this does, as has been pointed out, hold true for America too.

I wonder if this is true in the southern hemisphere, but in reverse?

i live in the mediteranian and people aren't abrasive at all.. but yes the driving is odd.. i drove around the naples ring road a few months ago.. not a good experience.. the trouble is the italians talk with their hands alot and if they are on their mobile there are no hands left for the steering wheel..... nightmare.. needed eyes everywhere

I have no idea. But it seems to happen in places other than Europe.
Seems to be the case in America too.
And in England as well, which may not be a great surprise, given that England is within Europe.

The further south u go in Europe, the stronger and thicker the coffee gets. And they drink more of it.

laxer driving laws, cheaper cars, and cheaper car insurance
higher speeding limits on roads, fewer laws and regulations on learning to drive. different attitudes to driving.
