There are a couple of possibilities. The easiest would be to take some of the solution and add a small crystal of MgSO4 to it. If it dissolves, the solution was unsaturated. If it doesn't dissolve, then the solution was probably saturated. If the solution had been supersaturated, adding a crystal to it will cause the excess solute to come crashing out of the solution, so you'd see the formation of a lot of insoluble stuff.

You must understand the definitions of "saturated" before any of that will make sense to you. Do you?

"Saturated" implies that the solution contains as much solute as possible in solution before it starts coming out of solution (i.e. precipitating, gassing out, whatever - depending on the solute).

So if you add, say 100 g of MnSO4.H2O to 100 mL of water at room temperature, what do you expect to see? The result is due to saturation....

What then if you raised the temperature of the solution, what would you expect to see? The result would be supersaturation...
