You can't get mace if you are a civilian, but you can get pepper spray almost anywhere.

Mace is just another word for Pepper Spray... it's all the same formula. It is legal in Long Island to own and carry, however no one person can buy more than one bottle at a time. There are more than one levels of formula, from basic Pepper Spray (the most gentle formula) to Mace (slightly more harsh), to OC Spray (condensed formula generally used by Law Enforcement). The best place to buy these products is on http://www.galls.com or another supply agency. When you're looking for products you want to pay attention to the Schoville Heat Units (SHU) The higher this number the stronger the formula and the more effective the results. Hope this helps!

In NY independent pharmacies are allowed to sell it, if you have ID and are over 18. You may only purchase 1 spray at a time. Not all will sell it, its up to the store owner, to decide if he will sell it, and he also will keep you signature on file.
