What does Wild Hair really mean ?

If someone says they "got a wild hair" it usually means they have acted on impulse or whim. Example - "We got a wild hair and decided to drive to Fargo." The less polite saying is "got a wild hair up my a**." Literally, an irritation which has resulted in crazy behaviour.

I think it means not styled or maintained. Just kind of, all over the place.

its an expression used to describe someones hair or sometimes an attitude
