Because eugenics isn't in line with the medical oath of "do no harm". They take an oath to attempt to cure it, not to sterilize them to sweep the problems under the rug.

Not every child born to infected parents is infected themselves. In fact 70% are not. Sterilisation is an option in some places, and it is being carried out, sometimes without the full knowledge of the recipient. A better way to go is education. There is a decrease in HIV infections in some countries where the Red Cross and the like can get through to give supplies of condoms and to teach people how HIV is passed.
At the weekend I watched a group of about ten local children, all about eight years old, laughing and having a great time, because they had found some old bottle tops to play with. They had made up a game with the different colours, and were fascinated and thoroughly enjoying themselves. A lesson could be learned from these kids by Western children - unhappy if they don't have the latest games console.
Also, with your suggested blanket sterilisation programme, these kids would never have known that joy and laughter.

you sound stupid, and like a bigot. The HIV/AIDS epidemic here in America is still high, but the media has been told to stop talking about it as much and to turn the attention to Africa. Why don't they make everybody in America get sterile? This country is going/ or has gone to hell in a hand basket with all the dumb opinions, and emotions. Much of what a lot of people say in this country now is not even based on facts., but strictly raw emotion.

Your question assumes there is a "government". If you had to pigeon hole one faction as the controlling party which one would you choose? Also, you would need break it down further defining which particular nation in Africa are you referring to?
Aides really sucks and those nations that are affected the most by it seem to be in some sort of war or conflict or genocide or something.
Maybe it's a fanatical islam tactic!

One of the saddests sights I am faced with on a daily basis here in South Africa is to see some woman begging or sleeping on a street corner at night with 3 little children or just street kids (as an example) - to me this is CHILD ABUSE!!!!
These innocent children, who never asked to be born into a life of poverty and suffering face the cruelest life....and those few lucky enough not to be born with HIV will probably be infected through rape (we have some very sick people in this country who believe that having sex with a virgin/child will cure them of AIDS - no joke - this is what some idiots believe).
It is far kinder for those innocent souls to have never have been born.....it might not be PC.....but state limitation on the number of children one can have might be a very good option for those who cannot afford to support themselves or their children.
The hightest infection rate is among the youth - educating them as to the dangers of this disease is not working.
And another major problem here is that we have the highest incident of rape in the world......

Wow! I thought I had very practical ethics, and I htought the end result was what mattered so much, like you seem to.
I had no idea that human rights meant something to me!
I think that Mother Nature will indeed wipe out as many of us as she needs to to keep some kind of balance, and starvation, AIDS, tsunami's and all that are her job.
In New Orleans as well as Africa, India as well as Far East Asia.
I even agreed, at the tender age of seven or so, that China had every right to restrict their women's procreativity to one child per family, for the sake fot he greater good.
But forcing abortion? Gee, I hoped all of us rich, spolied Americans would adopt these kids instead.
Because that violates the principles of human life.
Forget rights.
It's just abhorrent.
And there's no logic or pragmatism to counter that.

For what it costs to coach that commercial on television they could feed each and every ravenous new child interior the international. Take the inhabitants and the usually happening earnings of those ingesting and then divide it with tips from value in keeping with minute of monetary and you come across they do no longer look to be doing that to feed the ravenous. people who're ravenous is by using the fact those in power over them choose them to easily die. So if ships full of foodstuff replaced into sitting on the docks those infants does no longer get it. most of the money donated to help ravenous infants in Africa it replaced into pronounced on no account see a penny of that funds or any foodstuff.
