I personally believe in freedom of speech; however nowadays we have to be wary if we are making a point about sensitive issues; as I fear the UK is no longer a place for such matters, all too often someone is arrested for making his views heard then discriminated against by legal action... Where is the freedom of speech then?

If you mean "freedom of speech" as our founding fathers intended it, then "no" what you described is not freedom of speech. Freedom of speech is the right to say what you want (but not the yelling "fire" in a crowded theater example) without getting arrested. It does NOT mean you can say what you want when it interferes with other laws, i.e., vandalism, breaking into a building to force someone to hear you, public obscenity, etc.

You can say what you want but you cannot force someone to listen to you. That's the part many people forget.

No, so shut up...Just kidding ;)

However freedom of speech also means freedom to get your teeth kicked - works both ways, so freedom to speech should be used with responsibility, and often for good intentions.

I am the biggest believer of freedom of speech, there is nothing wrong with it but some country s that i wont give you as in a name. but those country s have a cover for there country, and your question would be what is that cover, I would tell you what is it... its the Freedom of speech cover some country just fool you with that but actually its a dictor country (as In Iraq Before the war). and trust me those country s would just go down ! there people would take the government down

Yes as long as it offends no one. Freedom of speech doesn't give us the right to insult people or mock them.

Yes, I do, but with that freedom, comes responsibility.

You might want to direct your question to liberals though. They believe in Freedom of Speech as long as you AGREE with their point of view. If you don't, they shout you down.

I believe in it however it doesn't exist. I can say what I want on sites like this but I can't air all my views in public without fear of being arrested, sued, mobbed and generally being considered a facist.

Of course. We have the right to say what we want when we want, and that INCLUDES mocking someone or putting them down. We have that right, and we should have that right.

Yes of course every one should be able to express how they feel and what they think but be careful not to hurt someone especially if u care for them.
