Because thats the closet they will get to being a celebrity. By impersonation.

probably to honor their favorite celebrities by putting their names as their Yahoo ID.

Because they admire them and they want to be them so if they take their names they would probably feel like a celebrity!

celebrities become popular
to the degree that we feel a connection to them.
--they are like us...
--or, we want to be like them...
--they represent us...
--or, a memory we want to keep...
that's why celebrities are used
in ad endorsements
--because companies know that we'll buy/use
anything that makes us think
we are more connected to a specific celebrity
we'll even use the celebrity's name & face
--on our clothes
--on our food
--on our avatars
that connection is important
because it helps us
feel better about our lives
--how we are currently
--and, how we'll be in the future
...richer
...prettier
...wiser
..........better
