I can't say I really mind, but I am surprised. I'm 26 years old. Isn't your hair supposed to turn gray at a much older age?

Thanks for the replies so far. I'm not going to die my hair! In fact it doesn't really bother me at all.

Don't worry about it. My hair turned gray when i was 14. It's all genetics like all the other posters said. Most of my friends say it gives me a more refined look so it's no big deal.

It's not that common, but I knew a girl who was 19 and her hair started graying. If you're talking about 1 or 2 gray hairs here and there, that's actually really common. They say a really traumatic experience can do it, but I had an aunt who was completely gray by the time she was 30. She now is 65, and looks like she's in her 40's, so grey hair doesn't necessarily make you look old. I think as a guy you could definately make graying hair work for you better than a woman could in this society. Or you could do like my great grandpa from Sicily, who used his wife's mascara to disguise the grays. Now they have modern "hair mascara" wands (get them at Sally's or any other beauty supply store) that you can camoflauge small areas, and they're not wet or cakey like regular mascara, and they come in all colors. They're great for touching up roots. Also, you could get Just For Men, and instead of dying your whole head, use the beard/moustache dye and just dye the parts that are showing up grey. I use that stuff on my eyebrows, and it lasts for weeks.

Hi. Just wanted to add that my hair really started turning grey when I was 23, mainly on the sides. I used to dye my hair once- in-a-while just for kicks. At 23, my beard was dark brown, some people jokingly called me "black beard." Now I'm 30, I have more grey and my beard is really grey.

It can sometimes be hard when you've turned grey early. This is kind of embaracing, but some people have mistakingly thought that my wife was my daughter, since she looks young (like around 18.) Yet, we're the same age. This makes me want to dye my hair again, and sometimes I do; you're only young once. Even though, I'm athletic, thin, and have a younthful face, some people still think I'm in my 40s. A good friend of mine told me if I were to dye my hair back to it's original color, he thinks I would look like I would be in my early 20s.

Yet, some advice - "Just for Men" is quick to use, but it gets lighter as you shampoo. It can be also really messy and expensive.

P.S. It is definately genetic, my dad had solid white hair when he was 20! Evidently I didn't get all his genes for hair color.

Your hair has ALWAYS been grey -- it's just that when you were immature, it had this weird brownish discoloration, and now that discoloration is fading.

At least that's what I say about MY grey. :-)

People's hair changes at different ages. My brother-in-law had very dark hair, which started changing in his mid-20s. By the time he was 30 he had salt-and-pepper hair.

Anyway, I'd rather have a full head of grey hair than a little ring of brown ANY day.

No, people can turn grey at any age. It's much more acceptable than it used to be for men to color their hair, so if it bothers you (it doesn't sound like it does) you can always use Grecian 2000 or Just For Men to touch up the color.

It's all about genetics. I was only 17 when I saw my first one. I'm 28 now, but I still only have a few. Hardly anyone notices. In fact some people think it's highlights. Anyway, there's nothing wrong with you, but if it bothers you just dye it!

Everybody is different. Some people grey early in life, while others don't get grey till much older. Just like some guys go bald, and others don't. It's all in your genes. I personally think a younger guy like yourself would look much better if he dyed his hair. Just like women, I think women look horrible in grey hair. I'll be dying mine, once I get some.....and I'm 45!

Not necessarily. You get your hair from your mother's side of the family. Look at your mother's father. Did he turn gray early?

Just remember....better gray than balding.
