If it is an annual Basil and has set seed then the leaves will taste bitter. Taste the leaves and if they are bitter then your Basil plant is going to the big compost heap in the sky.

If it is an Opal Basil plant (the dark reddish Basil) they also normally die after a couple of years. Try taking a cutting otherwise just replace the plant.

On sunny days keep it next to a window. They thrive on sunlight. On sunless days you might try keeping it near a florescent light. Cut it back by a third to promote healthier, thicker growth. Cold nights will make it want to go to seed so I would pull it away from the window at night if your nights are really cold. Of course, being an annual, this still may not work but it is always worth a try.
