insects always have three distinct body regions head,thorax & abdomen but arthropods have cephalothorax (head units with thorax) & abdomen only.
insects have three pairs of jointed legs & general arthropods have larger numbers of legs.
insects have two pairs of wings while arthropods don't have wings.
