Is it low on fluid? Are the brakes messed up? I mean the parking brake is completely off....but the light will just come on for 2 minutes or so and then it will shut off....it usually only does it once when i drive to work...but its only a 10 mile commute. Is something wrong with the master cylinder? If i need to put more fluid in the master cylinder...do I just use regular brake fluid. Im pretty mechanically inclined, just not fluidily inclined :)

I would look at the master cyclinder to check the fluid level. If it is low that usually means your brake pads are almost worn out. Or possible a leak, but with a 2002 I would say low pads.

Some cars that light comes on to let you know when to change the pads.
If the fluid level is fine, then maybe your parking brake switch might just need to be adjusted.

Next time it comes on, reach down and pull up on the emergency brake pedal and see if it goes off. I have had the pedal return spring not strong enough to put the pedal all the way up when the mechanism is dirty. If that is the case, spray some WD40 on the pivot point and work the pedal up and down a few times.

sounds like the parking brake pedal is either dropping or the parking brake light switch needs adjusting try pulling up on pedal with your toe when light comes on if it goes off you know it is nothing to worry about

more than likely the vehicle is low on fluid and maybe leaking somewhere or brake pads are getting low. but check brake fluid level first.
