As a previous poster said they're pretty much a closed shop, in addition to that they have so many applications for ALL jobs that they can pretty much have the pick of the crop. If you're just starting out in the employment world perhaps you could offer your services for free as work experience, if you are that good they might keep you on!

The BBC is called a "Closed Shop". This means that only Friends and relatives can get jobs there. Your best bet is to make Friends with someone who works there, who in turn will sponsor you.

I would assume it is because they have many applications for that type of position.
What makes you a better hire than anyone else?
If you can answer that and you can intellegently relay that to the HR people you'll get the job. Eventually.
