Because this show is a good example of the perfect life. Very rarely do you see them working, and when they are, it's filled with funny little mishaps and other things that make us laugh. They have a strogn bond between the 6 of them that surely many of us loathe. The majority of their time is spent out having fun, at the Central Perk coffee shop, etc. We love it because it is the life we would like to have. They are all beautiful and never have any real problems that we face in everyday life. Sure, they have problems, but they are always funny and made light of. When is the last time you saw Pheobe ask Rachel if she wanted to go to a movie and Rachel reply with "I really don't have the cash" or something like that.

It didn't teach us anything. It was entertaining to watch 6 young, attractive people live in beautiful NYC apartments.
