Unfortunately, it's we the people and the people of Iraq who must pay for his blunders.

All I see is a bunch of typical losers liberals as usual with the same idiotic response ,bush is a idiot, bush is a moron how enlightening.
First he is a man, and accept responsibility for the situation something that is not a liberal trait. Second if anyone could point out a US war where mistakes were not made please post it (can't wait).
Third he had no business apologizing for Katrina that should of been the governor and major of Louisiana oh forgot they are democrats not a liberal trait. We had disasters in Mississippi and NY on 911 but we had a republican Governor and mayor anyone notice the difference?

Bush has done what he thought was right for the safety of the country. Mistakes were made, but he did not do them out of evil intentions. The president has the most difficult job in the nation, and all people can think about is getting him to pay for mistakes? There are WAY to many people that want to see our country fail and will do anything to see that happen. Also, that "smile" he had was not a smile of joy. That "smile" was a smile sorrow and hope.

He doesn't know what taking responsibility means. If I, in the course of my work, made a decision that led to the deaths of innocent people, I would be forced to take responsibility by doing prison time. Not simply saying, I take full responsibility.
Bush and Rumsfeld have both stated that the situation in Iraq is their fault and they take responsibility, but they don't! taking responsibility means a darn site more than muttering a few platitudes. If Bush really were prepared to take full responsibility, he would resign and hand himself over to the Hague to stand trial for the war crimes of American troops in Fallujah, the use of phosferous and other chemical weapons against civilians and the destruction of the entire city. Saddam was hanged solely for the deaths of 148 men. All other charges where dropped.
If Bush, as commander in chief aka the war president, is responsible, then he must face prosecution for his crimes.
I am sickened by his insult that he takes responsibility, he clearly does no such thing.

I hate the "it's my fault" line - it's as annoying as Clinton's "I feel your pain." Overused and trite. I doubt it matters to the people who lost friends and family in Iraq and Katrina that he's responsible, huh?
At the same time, I can't see Cheney as president, either. And barring impeachment, what else can they do to Bush?

Yes. I do not know what is going on in America. Everybody hates Clinton for getting a ********, but Bush's blunders have cost the lives of so many innocent people.

I takes a man to take responsibility for their actions and try to correct it. Katrina was a natural disaster, it cannot be prevented only mitigated. The same thing could have happened under bloody Bill's watch.
the demoncrats would be wise to look to Bush to see how a real leader acts.

You know you hope a man of limited abilities like Bush could grow in office but instead he hasn't grown at all - still a spoiled kid who may say he did it but knows there are no personal consequences for him.
The most insincere apology I ever heard. For 4 years, anyone who disagreed was a terror lover, a traitor. Now he tells us we were right. Only two more long years.

I think it likely enrages families that Bush has been screwing up for so long (to the cost of several thousand American lives in New Orleans and Iraq.) I thank all gods that can hear me that I haven't lost anyone I know directly to his infinite cruelty and stupidity.

What do you expect him to do? Resign (i.e., cut and run)? Be impeached? You really want Dick Cheney as President?
It is his job to take responsibility. It isn't meant to make people feel any better, and I don't think it does.
