Want to become an aerial & satellite dish installation tech?
thinking of doing a short course run by the CAI on aerial & dish installations, then perhaps work for myself, is this a viable idea? can anyone advise me on the plus & negatives of this idea

Is not a bad idea, but you have to consider learning the proper way of drilling holes and the location where you will install the dish or else you will pay damages!!!

I was in the aerial installing business for 10 years.
Your first prblem is the capitol required for a van, plus stock,
aerials,dishes,plugs,cables etc etc.
Then u need ladders large and small, plus tools, and drills.
Ready to start? providing u don't mind heights, you will find the busy time is in the winter,so u can be on roofs so cold u can't feel your fingers. hope this helps.

Dont do it.I have been involved in the installation and repair side for thirty years. Its misery. There are much better and safer ways of making a living today and you will have no status what so ever.Imagine i trained for years to repair TV and Video and ended up throwing out all my circuit diagrams and repair equipment because i could not make any money compare this to say plumbing as a trade.Satellite installation is a dead duck your initial enthusiam will be well eroded later and compared to your mates you will be financially worse off.

Good money to be made in this trade. You must be able to climb ladders in all sorts of weather is a big draw back though.
