I would think it wouldn't unless your a girl that wants to be a man then be with a man but you were born a girl so it may be alright since you changed..........ok..does it mean your gay or not? I seen that yahoo answers puts transgender questions with the gay and bisexual stuff so thats why I am wondering.
What catagory would you put it under? and why?

Not necessarily.
If you're a girl and like women as a woman you're lesbian.
If you're a girl and would like to love a woman in the way that a man loves a woman and you have a sex change then you're not necessarily a lesbian.
If you're a boy and you like boys as a boy then you're homosexual.
If you're a boy and you want to be loved by a boy as woman, and you have a sex change so that you can have sex as a woman rather than as a man, then you're transsexual rather than simply homosexual.

No, its nothing to do with being gay, despite what some ignorant people claim.
Gay, is a sexual orientation or preference, where you prefer to sleep with the same sex.
Having a sex change implies that you are suffering from GID, gender identity disorder, where there is basically a mismatch between your bodies physical sex and your mental gender. Therefore many but not all people go through this process to realign there bodies to what they believe themselves to be.
I suspect that transgender issues are placed in the gay and lesbian category because, many groups that support and look out for the gay and lesbian community also look after trans individuals, you here the term LGBT or GLBT thrown around alot that's probably why, but trans people ain't gay because they chose to have a sex change, though they can be gay if they have a sexual preference for the same sex.

Not necessarily. Transgendered people feel like they are the other sex trapped in the body of the wrong sex. Nothing to do with gay

I'm not sure gay or straight applies to a transgendered person. This is where labeling someone gets into trouble. We are who we are (or want to be) and are attracted to who we're attracted to. We're not all 100 percent of anything usually anyway. Why does anyone have to fit into an arbitrary category?

No, it's not the same thing. If someone is transgender, you still can't make assumptions about who they will be attracted to. I have met a couple of male-to-female transgender persons who were only interested in dating women.

That would be transgendered, though some will still call it being gay. having a sex change does not make you a word.

It's classified as transsexual, I think. Because the people have separated out LGBT, so the categories are Lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgendered.

Sex change surgery is 'Gender Reassignment Surgery'. It does exactly that, it will change the gender of the person only, it does not change their sexual orientation. A male to female Transsexual who is 'straight' prior to surgery, will be lesbian post op. A male to female Transsexual that is gay prior to surgery, will be a 'straight' woman post op.
