In other words- where is discipline amongst pupils better? Where do kids give more respect to teachers?

I am not sure if there is a simple answer to this. Some private schools take problem children because they bring in money, but in the end the easiest school from a discipline point of view is almost certainly a private school in a fairly prosperous city, but go and check it out first.

By the way respect doesn't always mean discipline. I used to teach in a deprived area of Glasgow which had some of the worst streets in Scotland. I got a lot of respect particularly from kids who didn't behave well. They knew they were difficult. This experience is not unique. It has happened to lots of teachers. The kids respect you for not giving in and being fair as well as strict and clear (where necessary). It doesn't make things easy. of course.

Kids are not difficult because of lack of respect, but for other reasons eg it may be the way they haturally behave at home.

Good luck
