From a scientist point of view, the sun has about 5 billion more years, then it becomes a red giant. That means Earth will not exist, or die out.
From a Christianity POV, there will be a great war, Armegeddon, and all mankind will be destroyed, and when Jesus comes down again. His arrival is unknown, but he will come without any warning, like a thief in the night.
From the Mayan Calendar, it will be 12/21/2012.

When the Sun uses enough hydrogen to begin fusion of heavier elements up to iron, it will expand into a red giant. At some point, it will burn the Earth and likely absorb it. That will not happen for at least 5,000,000,000 years. (I love to write long strings of zeroes.) Humans may be extinct long before Earth ends, of course, but you asked about the end of the world itself.

you dn't need to worry about it man. there's some 2 million years to go. it will happen when the sun will expand till it reaches venus. at that time the earth temperature will rise up to 250-300 degrees celsius. and i think that wud be the end of the world.
if not so long maybe when the ice caps will melt and all the sea level will rise and will cover all the surface of the earth. the only safe place to live will be mount everest. lol.
or another possibility is when their will be a nuclear war. that disastrous.

There are two answers. One is when mankind gets stupid enough to kill the worlds population with bombs, chemical or biological weapons, or a plague happens. Another answer is when the world is destroyed with an asteroid or when the sun dies a few billion years from now. I,m betting on man and his ability to kill.

They asked when is the world going to end, not when are humans going to be killed off. An Asteriod, Nukes, blah blah blah will destroy humans, but not the earth. When the Sun goes Red Giant is about the only think that will destroy the earth. And humans will be LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG gone before that happens.

When that massive asteroid that no one saw plummets into Earth, when Yellowstone finally erupts, when humans nuke the planet into oblivion, or when our planet plunges into another ice age. There are so many things that can destroy civilization. Why not just enjoy the here and now and stop worrying about things that could happen. What can you do about it? If your answer is nothing, then why worry about it.

About 5 billion years from now when our sun burns up its fuel and turns into a red giant just before going super nova. Little in this solar system will be left.
