I went through the settings menu as well as the Profile menu but cannot get them to turn off or reduce the volume of the keypad

Go to Menu/Settings/Profiles/Normal/Customize/ and scroll down until you see Keypad tones, highlight it and use the left directional button on the navi-joystick to turn it all the way down. Click Back, select YES when prompted to save the changes Select Activate and you are all set.

have you tried looking in the tone settings? there might be a selection for the keypad. on my nokia phone the setting is in the profile so you may also want to check there by customizing the profile. I hope this helps
