I Bought a Radeon 9800 Pro video card a couple years back and just a couple days ago I noticed the colors on my computer began to get all distorted to the point where I couldn't make out my desktop.

So I opened up my computer only to find the fan from my video card lying on the bottom of my computer.

Has this happened to anyone? What do you think I should do, obviously besides going out and buying a new one. Can I call the company and see if they can give me a new fan? Or do you think the whole card is fried. Does Radeon have some kind of warranty on this stuff?

Oh and if I have to buy a new one, which one should I get?

I like to play the higher end games in terms of graphics.

No I didn't register my card.

What would that have done in this situation?

hi

please try changing the fan. take it to an authorized service man and see if you can get it fixed.

if you are going to buy an GPU (Graphics Processing Unit)
please look ones from nVIDIA. they have the best of the GPU's in the world.
if you want to know more contact me.
and yes wait a bit because direct x 10 is to be released.
cards like 6600gt, 7series, 8 series, g80 are all good cards.
beware nVIDIA G80 is the most expensive and powerful GPU in the world

Time to buy a new one unfortunately. The Radeon 9800 Pro although and excellent card is many years old at this point, and the one thing I hate about the gaming industry is that they assume your hardware is only 1 day old all the time for "compatability". So now is a great time to get a new card.

ATI will fix your card for a fee, but why bother going through the expense?

As for new cards, you should look that up yourself depending on the games you are going to play. Only NVidea and ATI for the cards though - those are the only two that are compatable with everything.

Well, I have had this happen to me and I called the manufacturer and they sent me a new fan. I would recommend buying a new graphics card though because of your liking to the higher end games. If you play really graphic intense action games where something is constantly happening I recommend going with nVidia. If not, just stick with Radeon and move somewhere into the X1K cards. For instance the X1300 or X1400.

If you want to get a new Card, get a NVidia GT7950. ~$250. Card rocks, SLI and is relativly cheap and also is only 10% slower than the newest cards on the Market.

The Down Side is you'll need a new Mobo, CPU because of E-PCI!!!

You are still running AGP, right?

Now, with your old Card..., just reattach your Fan or get a new Aftermarket Fan. ~$5-10. It's easy, trust me!

If you do not want to get a new Mobo, CPU go onto E-bay and get yourself a AGP Vid-Card! I highly recommend the ATI X850 Series, with 256MB. I have that one in my secondary Gaming Rig and it takes a fairly expensive "NEW" E-PCI Card to rival it's Speeds and Resolutions! ~$150.

Hope it helped!

Just get an aftermarket fan. Doubt your warranty is still valid. Did you even register your card?
