u know in 2 million years it will happen that the sun will expand till it reaches venus. at that time the earth temperature will rise up to 250-300 degrees celsius. and i think that wud be the end of the world. so we need another planets to shift on. so we are searching for another planet which resembles the earth in some way so as later it serves as our home.

Because at the rate things are going we're going to have to find a new place to live within 100 years. Of course we'd probably mess up a new planet the same way we're messing up Earth now unless we learn some hard lessons here first...

The earth is running out of land and resources for the billions of people, it is polluted, and objects such as comets and asteroids threaten to make us extinct like the dinosaurs. Also the sun is getting older and hotter. Last but not least, we do not like to feel alone, the only intelligent and communicating life.

Space has its benifits. By looking for planets, they could try to learn if life exsists elsewhere in the universe. Also, the common person has benifitted from materials that were developed in space.
