What if the kid was recieving a good amount of child support for 18 years and the mother didn't even save some for college a car or even good clothes through out his life just walmart crap and ramen noodles/ cereal to eat. Shouldn't the kid be able to sue?

LMAO!!! as if you were supposed to be live'n large the whole time on such a small amount of support.

its "Child Support"... NOT "Child Trust Fund".

she wasnt supposed to save for college with that child support, she was supposed to help pay for living expenses, food, heat, electric, school supplies, class trips, shoes, doctors, tylenol, soap, shampoo, towels, toilet paper, etc.

oh your doopid question is great... thanks for the laugh!

Unless the mother was spending the money on drugs, the mother was providing a roof, warmth in the winter, cool breezes in the summer, and making sure that there was something to eat. How unappreciative some people are. Mothers (especially Single Mothers) do the best that they can with what they have. Walmart crap? Learn the value of a dollar. I would rather spend $15.00 on a shirt at Walmart than I would spend $50.00 on a shirt from Aeropostal. The Walmart clothes serve their purpose they cover an otherwise, naked a**. Cars are a luxury, not a necessity and with cars comes responsiblities such as insurance and maintainence. The college thing could have been handled differently but as a Single mother raising 3 teenage daughters, I am quite offended that you can't see the sacrifices that your mother made to ensure that you had what you NEEDED. I bet you never complained when she ordered pizza or gave you money to go out with your friends, even if it was only $10.00. You'll understand once you have children of your own and grow up some more.

You have to eat, have a place to sleep, have clothes to wear, shoes to put on your feet, coats, hats, school supplies, and all the rest. Child support doesn't cover all of these expenses. In fact, for average working people, child support payments don't cover a full month's rent, let alone utilities.

Why are you only upset with your mother? How much money has your father saved toward your college education? How were your grades in school? Why didn't you work hard and qualify for scholarship monies? If you want to go to college, do what other kids do: apply for financial aid. In the meantime, get yourself a job and pay for your own car (assuming your father can't help you there either).

I know this all sounds harsh, but it's just the way it is. Your mother may not have been perfect, but she did the best she could to raise you. Give her a break and start doing things for yourself. And don't assume that the only thing your father was responsible for was child support. Child support only helps provide for daily expenses. Your father should have also planned for your future.

No you cannot sue your mother over this issue. You are an adult now over 18 years of age. The child support she received went for clothing, food, medical care, daily maintenance like (utilities, laundry, travel expense, school fees, telephone, etc.).

Child support is for support, not buying car's or paying for your future education or buying expensive trendy clothes.

Now that you are an adult, get a job, your own place to live, buy your own clothes, food, pay utilities, rent, insurance, car payment etc. Then you'll finally understand what it actually costs to support 1 person in life.

Once you do this you will soon realize what a stupid question this was.

What about the dad why shouldn't he have to shell out for a car, college, or as you say "good clothes" not Walmart crap. The child support most likely DID NOT compare to what the mother had to put in. Did Dad give you everything you wanted when you wanted it? What makes him the good guy? Ask yourself this Did she love me? Did i have a bed to sleep in, food to eat, a roof over my head, clothes to wear (even if it was Walmart crap). You are ungrateful. Your mother should be ashamed of you for asking such a question, but insted she probably loves you with all her soul.

No, i am sure it wasn't easy for your mother either, if she worked she had to pay for a sitter which cost money, along with paying house pyms or rent plus the utilities, groceries, when you have kids you will see how hard it is especially if you have a job with kids and the cost of child care,or you have no job staying home with just little or no money. When you are 18 you should be able to apply for grants to go to college its not easy living on a limited income maybe one day you will see and then you can say now i see why, it wasn't easy for your mother.

Sue? Oh yeah...the great American past time. No..of course the kid can't sue! The mother is the caretaker and she can do as she pleases with the money. As long as the kid is clothed, fed and treated humanely it's all set. Nothing says your parents can't be selfish and spend money on themselves, regardless what it's imagined to be earmarked for.
Sorry...some people have morons for parents. Some people get the shaft in life. let the kid work and save and take out college loans and go into debt like a good American. Keeping the Capitalist way of life alive by making our economy strong and healthy from life long interest payments on federally-funded college loans and credit card debt.
Then, when he gets his degree in medicine or law and rakes in the cash on twisting and pimping the law or screwing over people through their medical insurance and prescription programs he can deny his mother any of the cash he pulls in.

No.. lol.. what a moron..

1. did u ever stop and think that she bought what she could afford????

2. Child support goes to take care of the child's needs Roof, food, clothes, doctors, dentist , ele. etc.. and guess what it doesnt go very far..

3. She can spend the child support any way she sees fit as long as she keeps him clothed , fed and taken care of. If she wants to save the child support checks and take a vacation with it she can, why????? because at that point she's using all of her money to pay the bills so it would be like the father paying her back for spending all her money on the bills...

It is not her responsibility to buy them a car, and if she is smart she will make the child buy his own car and pay for his own education, my father made plenty of money and i had to pay for both WHY???? because it was a learning lesson on how to save money, to appreciate things that u earn.. most of the kids i went to college with if their parents paid for it all they partied it up and didnt care about their grades, those of us that had to take loans and pay for it our selves studied our azz's off to make it through school.

Shame on YOU! Child support is to help pay for gas, electric, water, groceries, garbage bill, house payment, clothes, bills, gas, car payment. Yes, everything to take care of you, you, you. It's to take care of your needs, not wants. Take your mom's bills and see if 1/2 of them are being paid by child support. Bet not. Wait until you have a kid of your own and see what it costs. This is the dumbest and most selfish question I've seen on Yahoo answers. Go ahead and sue and I hope your lawyer bill equals 18 years worth of child support. Plus the judge would probably make you pay your mom's lawyer bill too just for being stupid. Grow up.
