We've been together 18 years, not married-I stayed together for the kids-We bought our first house in Jan.06, I had major back surgery and now disabled. He quit his job 4 months ago and now there is NO money. I've sold all my assets off to keep our kids feed and he still does nothing. He sleeps on the couch and I 'm to the point where I don't even want to be social to him. Any advice??

Tell him either get a job or take a hike there isn't to much you can do other then ask him to buy you out and you move.

He quit his job, sleeps on the couch. Ever think he may be suffering from major depression (a true illness). While your back may have given you a disability have you applied for disability compensation?

Sounds as if your husband is really, really depressed, instead of whining about him doing nothing, how bout having him contact a mental health counselor or a pychiatrist.

Your husband if he's suffering from major depression is more disabled than you are.

Sit down and have a talk with him, not a gripe session, get the phone book out and maybe look up some counseling providers.

Then you could log on to www.ssa.gov and apply for social security disability and get that process started.

Ending an 18 year marriage is utterly ridiculous when both of you appear to be experiencing severe mental and physical health issues.

When he is out of the house, change the locks. When you know he's coming (before he's there), move his stuff outside. Don't open the door.

You may still need to get a divorce if you qualify as common-law married. It would be a good idea to see a lawyer.

You ask him to move out. If he refuses, you move out. If that is not possible, you find out whether or not you state does "dissolution of dometic partnerships." That is basically a divorce for people who where not married. If they do them, file one and have him served. If you want him out - end the relationship. Tell him. If when you end it something physical happens, or he threatens you - get a RO. File a child support case so that he starts to understand his resonsibilities.

Good luck.
