the american dream? don't know about such a term, but I did leave my country for the US to try luck in new surroundings. I came back a year and a half later and I feel as if I wasted that portion of my life really in the sense that I wasn't able to find a decent job within my profession. However, going there has made me a more mature person. I really value what I have and money and other things don't seem as important anymore. I think that most professional hispanics that enter the US looking for that dream quickly realize that you either lower yourself to a factory or warehouse worker doing things you would never dream of doing in your own country, or you come back. I wouldn't recommend anyone to move to the US.... it is better to stick just to vacation, if even that.
