Well, there is plenty of oil in the United States, but many people (mostly Democrats and liberals) have made it impossible for us to drill (environmental concerns, etc.).

Some of us would like to use our own, but get torpedoed by those on the left. Hope this helps. Thanks.

they have got vast amounts of oil but iraq is the underveloped big dog the war was more than oil, it was about taking the rights from us , putting the publics money through the weapons contractors, creating civil war in iraq so it could never become a 1st world country and it goes on and on . its all based on lies the war is also illegal , what people see in dubya and bliar is incompetence when in reality its all going to plan. give his a watch gives a little glimpse into how ,who and why :http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=786048453686176230&q=terrorstorm

Your first mistake was using the phrase, "the Americans", as if all of us march in lockstep with Bush. Not even all conservatives do, because some of us know Bush has sold us out. I vote third party, myself. Your second mistake was the "vast quantities of oil; most of ours were used up a long while back. Third,it's not like we steal any oil we do get; we buy it, at a market price. Find out what you're talking about before shooting off your keyboard next time.

Yes, it's the strategic oil reserve. Furthermore, I agree with the strategy, just as long as it's not forced on the rest of the world. As long as other countries are willing to sell their oil, we will buy it. If they have an agreement with us to continue selling it until it's gone, that agreement should be enforced.
However, if they go back on their agreement, and refuse to sell us oil, military force is an acceptable means to enforce the agreement. While we are enforcing the agreement through war, we will fall back on our strategic oil reserves.

Not vast quantities, but some, locked under the ANWR, legislators have prevented drilling despite numerous attempts.

I suggest this to fix it all. We the USA, should just drop an atomic bomb on IRAQ and end this once and for all!!

Why not? WE DID IT BEFORE and it ended a war? even though we already won the war in iraq many terrorist are still hiding out there and using road side bombs to hit us, so why not just pull us out and drop one BIG BOMB

If you mean Alaska, complain to the libbies. If you mean our reserves, well, that is for military use and would only sustain our country for about 2 weeks
