white. Or if he prefers, the ethnicity or country of origin. So if he's Nigerian, then he'd be Nigerian American. Or if he considered himself a Portuguese man in Nigeria, he'd be Portuguese American. But really, I'd call him whatever he called himself. It's really not up to me to label someone
Edit: Africa is a continent. A large one, actually, full of many, many different countries and cultures. I think in the US if blacks are called African American, then whites SHOULD be called European American because most whites are a mixture of different European countries, and not just one. but i prefer "black" for myself.

My friend (who is white) was born in South Africa but now lives in America and has his citizenship. He used to consider himself South African (He still has the Afrikaner accent) but now he is an American.

African American is the politically correct term for *****, so a white man from Africa is not an African American but just "that white guy from Africa".

an african american. most blacks in america shouldn't even call themselves african americans. that would be like if we whites called ourselves european americans. it would make no sense if we've never even stepped a foot in europe.

I'd personally call him by his given name. What does it matter if he's white, brown or purple? or what does it matter where he was born?
